The Cohuna Progress Association has formed a sub-committee called the Cohuna and District Childcare Committee (CDCC) to research, plan and develop a childcare centre for our town and the surrounding district.

The committee meets regularly and all community members are very welcome at these meetings.

Currently the CDCC requires that families or businessess with childcare needs register with Kerang Regional Family Day Care Scheme as soon as possible. This is so that an accurate representation of the childcare needs of our district is available to funding authorities.

Without significant registration numbers our project will not be funded as it will not be seen as a 'necessary' service.

Please understand how important this step is and make the time to register with Linda Phelan at the Shire of Gannawarra (even if you only need childcare occasionally!)

Please register by calling Linda Phelan on (03) 54509 605 or contact Kylie Kervin 54567241 or Amy Treacy 54564474 for more details.

Our email contact is cohunachildcare@hotmail.com

The CDCC hopes to not only develop a long daycare centre but to incorporate this centre into a 'Children's Hub' that provides other services for local children and families. These services would include playgroups, after school care, vacation care, a toy library and consultation rooms for health professionals such as speech therapists and podiatrists.

Please support this project as it will benefit many people in our community including families, children, businesses and employees. A childcare centre will also contribute to the development and sustainability of our town.

If you have any more questions please do not hesitate to contact one of the people listed above or come along to one of the CDCC meetings!
